Brother in law Kelly and Chris went out to the lake to clean up a tree that had fallen in the fall and cut down a few more dead cottonwoods today. Unseasonably warm weather meant a productive 6 hours of cutting and stacking and dropping trees. Yard is wet and still partially frozen so it was a good time to get it done.
Chris and Michelle got their house in Colton on the market last weekend so this weekend the lake called a little stronger than other weekends this summer.
Saturday was an afternoon spent at the lake with dinner in the boat from the shipwreck and a semi early night home. Sunday was another early return with a nice lunch of BLT’s. The 18 foot trailer arrived with the burn barrel to help get some cleanup going.
It was sunny, in the mid 80’s with variable winds mostly low from the southeast.
The Uthe’s (Chris, Michelle, William, Margaret)
Chris’s Birthday celebration kicked off at about 11 with Chris, Michelle, William and Michelle arriving. Nate and Emily arrived a few minutes behind them. The kids immediately got into the water and Chris started installing the battery powered boat lift drive.
Grandma Julie, Grandpa Doug, Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Wayne arrived shortly after the others with the Whitcombs being the last to arrive around 2. Grandpa Doug and Grandpa Wayne grilled steaks while Emily and Michelle baked Chris a cake. Dinner was had and more water fun was embarked on. The grandpa’s went to Madison to get a battery for the boat lift, which resulted in a working boat lift.
All the kids got Jetski rides and then the boat was lowered for some tubing. The four oldest Whitcombs tubed, with even Justin getting some tube action for the first time.
Clean up and cake followed with everyone heading home.
It was sunny, in the low 80’s with a stronger north western breeze. The wind subsided by 5:00. The water was very clear due to the wind. Yard is growing some new grass where it got seeded.

Fourth of July was spent away from the lake at the Caron’s but the 5th saw the Uthe’s (Chris, Michelle, William, Margaret) arrive at the lake to prepare for guests. The Caron’s (Doug, Julie) came along with the Anderson’s (Nate, Emily, Luke, Bonnie, Peder) for an afternoon of water and food.
The kids played in the water and rode jetski and Chris grill brats and hamburgers for a late lunch. Lunch was interrupted by a very heavy downpour as a thunderstorm went through.
Once the rain gave way the boat went out for tubing. Nate and Emily tubed with Margaret and William, and then Nate, Emily and Luke did some tubing. Rain once again broke out, followed by a leisurely boat ride to fill with gas.
Everyone packed up and headed home by 8.
It was mostly sunny, in the upper 80’s with variable winds mostly low from the south, trailing off by 4:00. A couple isolated thunderstorms rolled through and heavy rain was observed.

Fathers day started with Michelle, William and Margaret arriving first, getting some food unloaded and Chris arriving later. The kids beelined strait for the water after sunscreen and were having a great time when the Koch’s arrived.
The kochs arrived with excitement and more water was the destination for the kids. The Dad’s utilized Kelly’s side by side and moved walk ways into position. Baby Oliver got some outside time with Mom under the umbrella, which seemed to make for some good sleepy times. Arlo helped dad’s move pieces by being the official horn honker for the side by side.
Lunch was cooked up: hot dogs, chips and fruit. After lunch Will & Elsie wanted to go for a tube ride. This was the first solo tube ride for them together and they did great behind the jetski! The younger kids napped while the tubing took place.
During tubing Grandpa Doug called and wanted to put the boat in the water so Kelly & Chris ran across the lake and helped him launch it and got it on the lift.
After even MORE tubing there was a storm across the lake resulting in lightening and a pause to water activities while dinner was made.
Brats were grilled and boiled in beer and onions served with kraut and fixings, slow cooker potatoes and the rest of the essentials.
Dinner was followed by more tubing, jet ski rides for Arlo and Margaret and then clean up and bath time before everyone departed.
It was sunny, in the low 80’s with variable winds mostly low from the west, shifting to from the north east by evening.

The Uthe’s met at the lake to have dinner and let the kids play in the water. Michelle brought baked potatoes in the crock pot (first time trying this, do again!) and some serloin steaks. Chris grilled while the kids played and everyone enjoyed dinner. The water worked great and we cleaned up and headed home after dinner.
It was sunny, in the upper 80’s with a strong wind out of the south.

Chris arrived in the late afternoon and worked on the water. He removed well pipe back to where the last coupling was originally installed about 2 feet below the surface of the sand. He installed new pipe to the pump from there. A new 1HP pump was installed and the water seems to be working quite well now with no air intrusion or delay on start up.
Chris also mowed the yard and moved the walkways as close to the beach as he could as well as pulling the jetski lift to the beach.
It was sunny, in the upper 80’s with a light breezer out of the north.
Chris arrived after work to attempt to fix the water pump leakage with some new parts. Being unsuccessful a trip was made to Menards to fetch a new, simpler pump that was more like the old one. Unfortunately fittings were all purchased in 1.5 inch instead of 1.25 inch so a return trip to menards meant time ran out on the pump project today. Another day.
It was mostly sunny, in the low 90’s with a strong wind out of the south that faded to a light easterly breezey by evening.
June 1st is Chris and Michelle’s anniversary and typically Chris has to be at a work conference. This year however it’s cancelled due to CoVID-19. Michelle had to go to work and the kids to daycare so Chris made dinner (spaghetti) and met Michelle and kids at the lake. After dinner the kids played in the water while Chris and Michelle talked long term plans for the house. A group of teenagers played next door starting around 8. The Brende’s trailer got pulled out today in anticipation of a new one.
It was sunny, in the low 90’s with just a hint of a southerly breeze. The water was crystal clear at 7:00 PM. Yard is finally growing some grass between the debris, it needs to be cleaned up to mow.
